Support This Land DOC

THIS LAND is a short documentary that is being used in screenings across the country as a tool to speak about the following subjects:

  • access to the outdoors

  • awareness about public lands

  • diversity and inclusion on outdoor spaces

  • the historic inequities that made public land access less possible for historically marginalized populations

  • celebrating voices who are pushing forward conservation conversations through a lens of equity

This film speaks well to three primary audiences. Successful screenings and accompanying discussions have brought these groups together in vibrant conversation:

  1. Longstanding, well-known Conservation groups and organizations

  2. Folks from historically marginalized groups on the forefront of the environmental justice movements

  3. “To be Activated” communities who may not historically have seen conservation as relevant or inviting to them and are now invited to the conversation.

We have been working with advocates and activists to bring together a community around the film. Many are available to join panels to enrich the accompanying conversation. We’d love to support your screening event by connecting you with potential panelists, including the film team, and/or supporting your screening with materials. Check our resources section to see Examples of Panel Events held by Oregon Wild, Stanford School of Earth and the Toni Morrison Festival. Screening fees and individual donations support our work and allows us to host more screenings with smaller organizations with less means.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS

We’ve put the film online free of charge so that more people can see the film and use it as a tool for conversation. We want this film to be widely available for all viewers. For viewers that are able, especially when screening for an organization or festival, we ask for a suggested donation to screen the film. This allows us to continue to create materials like screening guides and curriculum, and help pay modest honorariums to speakers.

In addition, our film team, like so many in the nation, has lost the majority of our incomes for 2020 due to COVID-19, based on projects postponed and canceled. If it is within your means to pay a screening fee to screen the film, it will also support our team and continue to support our work to extend the reach of the film. We appreciate it!
